Talking Heads - a Gardening Podcast

Ep. 78 - Winter pruning is a task that both Lucy and Saul thoroughly enjoy, so the duo chat about how they wield their secateurs, pruning saws and loppers on their respective estates.

Saul Walker and Lucy Chamberlain Episode 78

2021 has started but much of the troubles of 2020 have continued, and we understand that the full repercussions of what we have all been through are now being felt. But with summer and autumn now distant and the glory of winter around us, we continue with a healthy amount of discussion on some of our favourite horticultural topics, bringing a little dose of the garden to your daily lives.

With spring beckoning, Lucy and Saul are busy completing their winter pruning. Fruit trees, roses, clematis and many more woody plants are receiving their annual trim, so Head Gardeners Saul and Lucy explain how they tackle this job - using a mixture of science and artistry. Once mastered, pruning becomes a real craft, and the completed task can bring gardeners, both new and experienced, immense satisfaction.
